i guess i was wondering why? why no young adults? anybody have any thoughts?
i think it's been discussed other places here, but my thoughts as to why:
An organized nudist culture which is built around middle to upper middle class middle aged couples. When this is your key membership and customer base, you are going to target them in your marketing over youth--because they are more likely to purchase the pricey memberships. Moreover, i think some resort owners who would otherwise be inclined to try to target younger persons sometimes find themselves b/w a rock and a hard place b/c they don't want to risk alienating their key demographic base by making changes or marketing to demographics that would offend the people already paying the pricey memberships.
From a short-term profit perspective, it makes sense. the problem is when you hit a generational crisis and the middle aged people get old and die out, you haven't introduced new people to take their place. this seems to be what is going on with clubs in the US now. AANR could demand that clubs have some sort of youth program as a condition of their incorporation into the AANR supported resorts, but at this point they seem reluctant to push the issue even as they try to say to younger people 'dive in.' I think that might also have to do with the short-term sustainablity issue (why piss of club owners and sections of your membership base when you're already hurting?).
So short end to long answer: Too much short-term thinking and toadying to one demographic in the organized nudist world.
